Time lapsed testing of plastics under media influence by using the load increase method

Environmental Stress Cracking (ESC) is one of the most common failure reasons of plastic parts during their use. Therefore this failure mechanism is of great technical and economical importance. Hereby it is important to know how to characterise the susceptibility of a plastic resin under influence of a specific medium. One intention of the research activities of the IKV is to set up a new testing procedure to predict the long term properties of plastic materials under media influence by using a short term testing method.
