Phenomenon-oriented investigation of the solid conveying zones of co-rotating twin screw extruders using DEM-simulation
At present, the simulation of solid conveying zones of co-rotating twin screw extruders (DSE) is investigated at KTP. The interpretation of twin screw extruders with the aid of simulation calculations is currently a reliable and cost-effective alternative to the screw concepts based on empirical knowledge and experience. The focus of the interest is the calculation of the temperature increase by friction processes - between particles and screw or cylinder wall or within the partially filled screw channels. The simulation software EDEM is used.
