Influence of the tribological properties of the screw surface on the solids conveying and plastic deposit in extruders with axial grooved feed zone
The development of high speed single screw extruders requires fundamental investigations of solids conveying behaviour above a wide field of peripheral screw speed. In this study, the influence of several roughness and coatings of the screw surface are investigated on several additives und concentration (slip agent and processing aid). The influences are investigated up to a peripheral screw speed approximately 2 m/s. The experimental results shown, that the friction forces and so the throughput in the feed section are only to be affect through the deformation work between the friction partners.
