Determination of the compression strength parallel to fibre direction of CFRP by four point bending
The determination of fibre parallel compressive strength of carbon fibre reinforced plastics (CFRP) is very complex due to instabilities on one hand and due to a number of different compressive failure modes on the other hand. This paper presents 4-point-bending tests, in which very high fibre parallel compressive strains of unidirectional layers of T300 / epoxy are achieved. Fracture surfaces and testing data indicate that the real fibre strength has been reached.
