Determination of curing kinetics of a two-stage curing epoxy resin for high performance composites

The Fraunhofer ICT is developing a new direct-process, called InlinePrepreg, for manufacturing of high performance composites for mass production. For realizing the new process, a two-step curing epoxy resin system from the company Huntsman Advanced Materials shall be used. Without knowing the curing behavior a process development, optimization and validation is not possible. The following investigations are dealing with the characterization of the epoxy resin system by using dynamic DSC and DEA measurements and followed by modelling the curing behavior. Also the results of two different measurement methods are compared and correlated.
