Self-reinforcing profil extrusion of semi-crystallin thermoplastics

The self-reinforcing profile extrusion described in this thesis obtains far better mechanical and thermal properties with PE PP and PA6.

All three materials are nucleated by a melt deformation process. Under controlled cooling temperature and extrusion pressure a crystallization to a non-spherulitic structure is achieved.

The generated structures lead at all three materials to an improvement of the mechanical and the creep tensile properties as well as better thermal stability.

The improvement of the properties is not only reserved to the extrusion direction, also in transverse direction a clear improvement is achieved.
