Possibilities and limits of a improved process description for rubber extruder

The main requirement to a rubber extruder is to generate high throughput with good thermal quality and energy efficient and stable operating point. The present thesis shall help to de-scribe the process of rubber extrusion and for rubber specific rheological properties. A numerical model for pressure and throughput response was developed under consideration of transverse flow. Discrete formulations of velocity profile are the base for local coupling. On the one hand taking into account of transverse flow at the isotherm model. On the other hand with a discrete temperature calculation, to build a model for non-isotherm pressure and throughput response. Another focus in this paper are experimental investigations of rheological properties of different rubber mixtures. With the use of these findings and based on the investigation of the numeric model, simulations for description of rubber extruder processes were carry out. The results were discussed and verified.
