X-ray tomography instrument: TomoScope HV Compact

Through its new X-ray tomography instrument, the TomoScope HV Compact, Werth Messtechnik GmbH, Giessen, Germany, has filled the gap between the large TomoScope HV 500 and the small TomoScope 200. The TomoScope HV Compact is provided for measurements on components of relatively high density, composed, for example, of glass-fiber reinforced plastic, composite materials, aluminum or steel. Three development stages allow adaptation to requirements in any situation. The base version is a coordinate measuring instrument having a tomography sensor system based on tried and tested software and device components. A second version carries out raster tomography for measuring small features, on large components also, in high resolution. Moreover, the field of application of the measuring device can be extended by combining it with other sensors, fiber calipers or laser sensors for instance. This allows the measurement of workpieces composed of a combination of materials (for example steel inside, plastic outside) or the reduction of measurement errors to a few micrometers. The latter can be done by means of the autocorrection process for which Werth has filed a patent application. Another possibility is complete measurement by tomography and additional measurement by other sensors in a chucking device.
