New Plastics Shredder
Specially for plastics, Weima Maschinenbau GmbH, Ilsfeld, Germany, developed its new WLK 1000 device. It is suited to shredder start-up lumps, production waste, containers or fibers, as well as films (Fig.). The standard version of the single-shaft shredder is equipped with a downward-swiveling hydraulic screen, thus enabling better access, especially when changing the screen, or for maintenance purposes. The new design of the hopper and its larger feed volume allow for large parts to be shredded, without the formation of material bridges. Another innovation is the shredders’ segmented floor guidance. The slider that pushes the material towards the turning rotor is precisely guided, which prevents the material from jamming. The machines are feasible with a V or F rotor. Rotor size in the WLK 800 is 252 mm. The WLK 100, 1500 and 2000 series have a rotor diameter of 368 mm. They are designed for higher output rates.
