Microscopes with Touch

Vision Engineering

The Xpress 70 measures small, flat parts within the field of vision without operator intervention (figure: Vision Engineering)

The Xpress 35 and Xpress 70 measuring microscopes (Fig.) from Vision Engineering Ltd., Emmering, Germany, exploit the capabilities of high-resolution telecentric optics for measuring within the field of vision and in this way obtain 2-D measurement results for small objects rapidly in real time. Operation of the unit by means of touchscreen and Multitouch software resembles that of smartphones and tablets, allowing trained users to find their way around quickly.

Field-of-view measurements are ideal for 2-D measurements of small workpieces, because the measurement can be made immediately. Neither the part of the portal needs to be moved for this purpose. The image of the entire specimen as well as automatic detection of orientation and edges rules out any possibility of operator influence. With its 5-megapixel color camera and programmable LED incident and transmitted light, the measuring microscope achieves accuracies in the lower micrometer range.
