Specially for the housing of a TL268EX LED flashlight manufactured by Mellert SLT GmbH & Co. KG, Bretten, Germany, Vamp Tech spa Advanced Modified Polymers, Tettnang, Germany, developed Vampamid 660675VO black ST in order to prevent electrostatic discharges. The electrically conductive material is characterized by a surface impedance of 103 to 104ohm/m2 and is rendered flame- resistant at 1.6mm in accordance with UL94VO. This predestines it for use in rooms, machines and plants where there is the risk of explosion. Reinforcing materials such as glass fibers improve the mechanical properties that are indispensable especially when a flashlight is subjected to impact. By using other additives surface impedance values of up to 102ohm/m2 can be achieved. The light is approved for hazardous areas in zones 1, 2, 21 and 22 in accordance with ATEX94/9/EG.
