Top 5000 P Dosing System
Improving Operating Safety
When products are produced from two-component liquid silicone rubbers (LSR), momentous and expensive confusion of the materials in use can take place prior to injection molding. Elmet Elastomere Produktions- und Dienstleistungsgesellschaft GmbH of Oftering, Austria, in cooperation with Wacker Chemie AG of Munich, Germany, wants to reduce this risk by a new type of barrel marking and recognition.
Standardized use of rotating barcodes on the barrels reduces the danger of confusing the components in use. The barcodes would supplant the established designation of the components by the letters A and B. Prior to processing output materials, the applied barcode is read out manually on a hand scanner and reconciled with the specifications. If control then detects a discrepancy, it prevents the pump from dipping into the barrel and further processing, as well. Elmet is offering the barcode system together with the reader device with its Top 5000 P multiple component dosing systems to avoid time consuming cleaning work and production standstill. The dosing system is designed for shot weights from 0.1 g to several kilograms and can process materials with viscosities of 9000–3,000,000 mPas. With its two control loops working independently of each other, the containers used can be emptied up to 99 %. Moreover, it is possible to handle the volume fed into the system even in narrow processing windows and during start-up. Moreover, the system’s Easy Access Concept simplifies container change for the processor and also enables comprehensive documentation of product quality.
