Thermoplastic vulcanizates in the ETPV range
Flexible and Resistant under the Hood
To satisfy the increasing global demand for soft, oil- and heat-resistant elastomers, Du Pont de Nemours (Deutschland) GmbH of Bad Homburg, Germany, has launched a range of new thermoplastic elastomers.
The three new thermoplastic vulcanizates in the ETPV range and a grade from the Hytrel thermoplastic polyester elastomer family have been developed for under-the-hood applications in motor vehicles and industrial uses. Typical applications include extruded pipes and hoses, blow molded ventilation ducts, injection molded seals and chassis grommets. With a Shore A hardness of 80, the new Hytrel (grade: AC801 NC010) is much softer than all other grades in the product range. At the same time, it is suitable for a continuous service temperature of 150°C, which is around 20°C higher than that of most other DuPont thermoplastic polyester elastomers.
The new thermoplastic vulcanizates (grades: ETPV 95A02HS BK001 and 95A02 NC010) offer very good processing stability in profile extrusion and blow molding of parts such as ventilation ducts. The first grade mentioned is black and heat-stabilized (formulated to withstand 3,000 hours at 150°C), the other is a natural standard grade for less challenging applications.
