The multiFlow System for Parallel Circulation
Automated Temperature Control and Surveillance in a Distribution System
Near-mold-contour distribution systems provide temperature control for large injection molds with a number of heating-cooling channels. This setup makes it possible to arrange circuits in parallel and at the same time reduce the number of cooling-heating units.
For this purpose, the Swiss Regloplas AG, St. Gallen, Switzerland, offers a modular system called multiFlow for maximum 120 °C water temperature with individual flow control for each circuit. The multiple distribution system is completely integrated into the heating-cooling system’s control system. It is possible to utilize the full flow with maximum pump power in tempering circuits that are set up in parallel. The system is also capable of monitoring the water flow in each of up to 16 circuits.
Flow is automatically controlled in connection with the preset nominal value by means of a control ball valve. The system signals an alarm if the temperature or flow exceeds the limits of a preset monitoring range. The monitored parallel connection not only makes the process more reliable, but also eliminates the risk that calcifying or clogging in one of the circuits will affect all the branches, as would be the case in serial systems.
