The Exterior Counts, Too
Teknor Apex
Parts for the automotive industry must meet a wide range of requirements. The new Chemlon 890 HNT001 extrusion compound of polyamide 6.12 from Teknor Apex B. V., Geleen, Netherlands, has passed the heat aging test at 135 °C for 168 h, and received approval for use in the brake lines of an American OEM. The cable sheathing has good dimensional stability because of the low moisture absorption and better chemical resistance than that of pure polyamide 6. For contact with aggressive chemicals or under mechanical loads, its stress corrosion resistance is also better. The compound is also heat stabilized to avoid embrittlement at high operating temperatures, and contains a lubricant to facilitate feeding of the extruder.
