Individually Controlled Melt Flow

With its products of the activeGate family, Synventive Molding Solutions GmbH, Bensheim, Germany, offers a range of control technologies in the hot runner, which, using sensor data, permit individual monitoring of the melt flow at the melt entry point of every gate in the mold. A new feature is the latest enhancement of the eGate. The electrically operated valve-gating system is now also available for large parts with high shot weights. The system permits monitoring of the valve movement at every individual hot-runner nozzle and, with a large number of setting parameters, offers possibilities for part optimization, particularly in sequential injection molding and with family molds.
Due to the precise electrical control of each individual valve position, velocity, acceleration and needle stroke, the system can be flexibly used for many different applications. Possible advantages for the user’s process control lie, e.g., in monitoring the balancing and holding pressure, clamping force reduction as well as in lower part weight and warpage. For easy installation, the maintenance-free, electrical actuating motor of the eGate system is bolted directly onto the manifold.
On a 6-cavity hot runner system, the latest functions from synflow are demonstrated, the tried-and-tested two-speed valve-opening controller, which eliminates surface defects in hydraulically actuated cascade injection molding. A new function is that the gate valve can be stopped and held at every stroke position. The melt-flow check on every nozzle is intended to help to balance family molds or fill complex, multi-gated parts. Several valve movements in one cycle can now be programmed – this opens up the possibility of pre-filling cold runners or subdivided holding pressure phases in complex part applications.
