Stork S+ line of injection molding machines with accumulator drives

A Fast Runner with Accumulator Drive

Energy efficient production and high product output per unit of time are demanded by today’s markets. With this in mind, Stork Plastics Machinery B.V. of Hengelo, the Netherlands, has announced various improvements in its Stork S+ line of injection molding machines. These machines have been specially designed to fill the requirements of the packaging industry and are available with accumulator drives and clamping forces from 1,000 to 20,000 kN. Among the options are versions with enlarged clamping platen and equipped for 2-component applications.

The Stork S+’s HX drive enables producers to do thin-walled articles at the shortest possible cycle times. This combination of short dry-cycle times and short injection times puts these machines among the fastest injection molding machines on the market, according to the manufacturer. For low energy consumption, Stork is offering a hybrid machine that combines the HX drive with an electric screw drive. The smooth closing motion of the heavy and stable clamping platen helps reduce wear to the mold and the machine. One current model, the Stork S+ 2000-1450, is equipped with roller track guide. This guide reduces friction in mold movements, thus keeping the mold area clean, since less lubrication is required.
