Software for color management
Colors under Control
Grafe Advanced Polymers GmbH, Blankenhain, Germany, has developed software for color management in the automobile industry that processes digital color data and simultaneously serves as an organizational working environment. According to Grafe, the software has already been used successfully in projects such as the seats in the Audi TT and B8 and the VW Tiguan as well as the pillars and rocker panel cladding on the VW Tiguan. The Audi B8 seat entailed four basic polymers, 13 interior colors and more than 70 molds. About 60 color masterbatch formulations and their optimization loops prior to production were involved. Participants were able to continually access the current status of development, intermediate results and histories, and to create new optimization loops. Konica-Minolta hardware provided the basis for the color measurement technology.
