Grinding for High Throughputs
Single-Shaft Shredder. Antares is the name of a line of compact single-shaft shredders supplied by Lindner reSource GmbH in Großbottwar, Germany, with a throughput rate up to one third higher than that of previous machines in this class. Available in four sizes and numerous equipment configurations, the units are perfectly adaptable to the specific requirements of plastics. Typical applications range from postconsumer materials to solutions for special tasks such as in-house recycling of films, filaments, start-up lumps, sheets and plates.
The Antares line starts with the 1000 model and goes up, through the 1300 and 1600 versions, to the 1900 type with its 1,880 mm of rotor length. The machines can be equipped, either, with a point-blade rotor for high-performance shredding of, e. g., big bags, filaments and stretch films. Alternatively, it is available with an energy-saving square blade rotor for controlled feeding of hard plastics. At motor performance rates between 37 kW and 110 kW, the units’ typical throughput rates are 500 to 2,500 kg/h. Another optional feature is the “Skylight” maintenance and service hatch sitting on the shredders. It is operated manually and facilitates replacement of the blades and counterblades, counterblade adjustment and removal of foreign matter. The hinge-mounted screens are segmented and can be changed by hand without any use of lifting equipment. Moreover, a hydraulically opening screen basket is available, that may further reduce shredder idle times in a case of product change. A rotor cooling system enables the user to process heat-sensitive plastics, too.
