Never Again a Test of Courage
What used to be a bit like a test of courage before, can today be done very easily, just by pressing a button: the new RSI safety coupling by Stäubli Tc-Systems GmbH in Bayreuth, Germany, disconnects the compressed air supply without whiplash effect, without the risk of injury, and without noise. A single impulse to the button of the safety coupling is sufficient to induce an automatic three-stage disconnection process. The two first stages, i.e. closure of the upstream compressed air circuit and decompression of the downstream circuit the coupling carries out in the background. What the operator notes is merely the automatic disconnection of the plug. In opposite direction, the process is just as safe and simple: the plug is pressed upon the coupling – and that’s it. No force is needed for coupling.
So as to enable users to employ the RSI technique for the most diverse applications, Stäubli Connectors offer a wide range of variants. They also comprise ergonomic one-hand operation in areas that are hard to access. For instance, the coupling’s casing can be swiveled 360°, which makes the button accessible in any desired position. The patent valve technique of the RSI couplings safeguards absolute tightness under any condition of use. The precision components employed thus represent the highest possible level of energy efficiency, as well as low operating costs of the compressed air ductwork systems.
