Range of LFT Compounds Expanded
TER Plastics Polymer
For a specially good combination of toughness and stiffness, even in high-temperature applications, the TER Plastics Polymer Group, Herten, Germany, is exhibiting its Terez LFT range of grades with good fiber adhesion at the Fakuma trade show. A new product in the range, which usefully complements existing long fiber compounds, is Terez GT3 HLG40 with reduced water absorption. Tribological requirements, even at high temperatures, can be fulfilled with the newly developed grade Terez HT 100 H G30 TF15. According to the manufacturer, special chemical coupling of the lubricating component allows maintenance-free use over long periods. With standard polyamides, glass fiber contents of up to 65 % are now available, which enable high stiffness and strength as well as good surface quality to be achieved.
From its strategic suppliers’ portfolio, TER Plastics Polymer Group is offering the new high-temperature materials Fortii MX (polyphthalamides, PPA) and Xytron (polyphenylene sulfide, PPS) produced by DSM Engineering Plastics. These materials are said to meet the extreme requirements of the auto manufacturers. TER is also presenting special Arnitel TPE grades from DSM that are suitable for food and beverage contact. With the addition of Technyl RED from Solvay, a polyamide 6.6 (PA66), the portfolio is also being expanded for high-temperature applications under the hood.
The portfolio also includes the new polyoxymethylene (POM) grades Duracon POM M90-57 and M270-57 with low formaldehyde outgassing, which are specially intended for the food and cosmetics sectors as well as the new higher-temperature-resistant PPS grades Durafide 1130T62, 6150T63, and 6150T8. Among the products from Total Petrochemicals, polyethylene (PE) and PP recyclates augment the range. Since June, TER has entered into a new partnership with Uz-Kor Gas Chemical to distribute high-density polyethylene (HDPE) products to selected European countries. In collaboration with Teknor Apex, TER has developed an online material selection tool based on comprehensive material, processing and application data to help users with material selection.
