Foamed to Seal
This year, Rampf Polymer Solutions GmbH & Co. KG from Grafenberg, Germany, will emphasize their new PU sealing systems. Raku-PUR is the name of thixotropic two-component sealing foams, which, according to manufacturer information, feature high mechanical strength, low water absorption and good adhesion properties. The materials are used to seal complex three-dimensional component contours. The sealing foams can be sub-divided into several groups. First, low-emission sealing foams with a high viscosity, which form regularly shaped sealing beads that adhere even to horizontal surfaces. Second, new antibacterial sealing foams are available for, e. g. air conditioning units, ventilation and air-conditioning systems and clean room illumination. These foams are very tear resistant and form a compact hydrophobic integral skin, thanks to which they are able to meet high requirements in terms of hygiene. Third, in addition to thixotropic systems, quick sealing systems were developed (Raku-PUR Speed). Using these systems, the component carrying the foam can be processed after few minutes without expensive interim storage. This year’s novelties also comprise PU embedding systems with high resistances to temperature and chemical impact designed for filter production, in addition to adhesive systems for various assembly applications and sandwich elements.
