Plastics parts in automotive industry must withstand very high loads. Especially components of engines, high-performance gearboxes or powertrains of vehicles undergo extreme friction and glide loads. These conditions of use are demanding in terms of mechanics and tribology. To meet these requirements, HP Polymer GmbH in Lenzing, Austria, with its business unit Ensinger Compounds, has brought to the market compounds reinforced with special minerals, featuring wear rates approx. 70 % below those of plastics with PTFE additives. These special minerals make these PTFE-free Tecacomp TRM X compounds by Ensinger extraordinarily resistible. The compounds have been filed for patent. They are used for high loading pressures and under high-temperature conditions. The special minerals can be integrated into all usual standard, engineering and high-performance plastics.
