Precise Dosing, Efficient Drying

ProTec Polymer Processing

Compact Somos RDM mobile dryer with optional integrated dry air conveying direct to the processing machine (© ProTec)

As a specialist for injection molding, extrusion, and blow molding technology, ProTec Polymer Processing GmbH of Bensheim, Germany, supplies products for dosing charges and drying the granulate of free-flowing plastics. Among them are models not only for gravimetric dosing, but also for granulate drying that are equipped with SPS control for networking with plastics processing machines. Real time communication among components makes it possible, for example, to set the most favorable time to provide dried material for processing. The control can be operated via 6-inch color touch screen with graphic user interface that should ensure unbroken processing security and quality control.

Using the Somos series gravimetric dosing and mixing systems can realize thoughputs of up to 1920 kg/h. Homogeneous mixtures of up to six components can be mixed precisely and reproducibly. Both stationary dryers, like the RDT-250, or mobile stand-alone dryers, like the RDM-70/200 are ideal for drying granulate efficiently and flexibly. They can achieve materials throughputs of 200 kg/h (stationary) and up to 150 kg/h (mobile systems). Integrated energy saving systems are aimed at ensuring a resource-saving supply of drying air according to the water content.

Moreover, ProTec is introducing pultrusion lines at the Fakuma that enable the production of up to 1000 kg/h of long fiber-reinforced thermoplastic pellets, whereby the matrix materials can be reinforced with glass, steel, aramid, or carbon fibers.
