Even Better Performance
The distributor Ultrapolymers Deutschland GmbH, Augsburg, Germany, is expanding its portfolio of materials for extrusion and thermoforming applications through addition of the new polypropylene grades from LyondellBasell Industries NV, Rotterdam, Netherlands. Compared to their predecessors and depending on the grade, these materials offer optimized combinations of high stiffness, transparency and low-temperature impact strength as well as very good processing and stress whitening characteristics.
For instance, the nucleated, highly crystalline PP homopolymer development grade Moplen HP2409 offers a very high modulus of elasticity in tension of 1,950 MPa for thermoforming and blow molding as well as film and profile extrusion. Products manufactured from this material exhibit very good values of transparency in gloss, in addition to good dimensional stability, even at elevated temperatures. As a result, the material can, for instance, be used for highly transparent, hot-filled food trays, where the high stiffness can allow wall thicknesses to be reduced. Moplen HP2409 is also very well-suited to increase the stiffness and customer-specific formulations.
