New Device for Thermosets

Ökoplast

The plastication unit was developed for the manufacture of small and microparts of thermoset materials (figure: Ökoplast)

Thermosets represent an interesting and cost-effective alternative to high temperature resistant thermoplastics. Besides good thermal and chemical resistance, they have an aesthetic, superior, scratchproof surface and are comparatively inexpensive. To obtain comparable properties, along with thermal and chemical resistance, thermoplastics must be specially modified by raw materials manufacturers, which is why they are considerably more expensive.

Ökoplast GmbH, Mittweida, Germany, now presents a device for injection molding of small parts from thermosets, which the company has developed together with the University of Mittweida for the MW injection 50 injection molding machine. With the new plastication and injection unit (Fig.), selected thermoset materials can be processed.
