Modular Building Blocks Enable Flexible Feed
motan-colortronic GmbH, Friedrichsdorf, Germany, shows that successful material handling lies in the combination of established and new innovative technologies. That is why their new Metro G loaders, as well as their Miniblend V synchronous doser, are the attraction in moton-colortronic’s exhibit at the fair this year.
The machines in the Metro G series (Fig.) have been expanded by motan-colortronic to include several new functions. According to the manufacturer, they are perfectly suited, thanks to their modular construction, for configuring a loading system simply and optimally by the building block principle. Aggregates are selected for the delivery volume required by the materials throughput. They are offered with material intakes in various sizes that can be precisely adapted to the throughputs and loading distances. For materials with difficult separation characteristics, modules are available with a lateral material intake that work by the cyclone principle. Users can also choose among various types of vacuum valves. Thus, for instance, a standard machine can be expanded into a cleanroom version by using membrane vacuum valves. A de-dusting module enables removal of fine dust subsequent to the feeding process to protect an upstream processing task with especially tight material composition requirements. In this way, the perfect system can easily be configured for any individual requirement.
With regard to the control unit, the user can select from a wide program. Metro G loaders can be operated from a simple, cost-effective solution, or via automated, network capable controls with Soft-SPS or Siemens S7 SPS with WEBpanel. All controls are entirely integrated into the ControlNet platform and can be networked with other controls via Ethernet.
The Miniblend V is a volumetric disc dosing and blending unit for freely and normal flowing materials. As an additive feeder, Miniblend V is suitable for all continuous and discontinuous processes with overfed operation. According to the manufacturer, it offers high reception precision and reproducibility that can be traced at any time. Thanks to a special cutting device, this also applies even for dosing smallest amounts where a single granule can have great influence on blending precision. By splitting the granule into smaller pieces, the dosing can proceed with top precision. Base material and additives are added in free fall via a Y-shaped feed throat. This prevents material deposits and bridge building.
For operation, the volumetrically regulated Volu MC or VoluNet MC controls are utilized. The former is a less expensive solution for volumetric coloring with masterbatches. Its modern microprocessor control with timer function offers simple, intuitive operation for a Miniblend V with a dosing module. The VoluNet MC control is a network-capable control for Ethernet TCP network connection and is configured for up to two dosing modules. Its intuitive touch-screen color display enables trouble-free operation of additive calibration or storage of up to 50 formulae.
