Twin-Screw Extruder and Sophisticated Metering Technology
Coperion GmbH, Stuttgart, Germany, presented advances in twin-screw extruders at K 2019. According to the manufacturer, they are suitable for performing high-quality recycling on an industrial scale, e.g. for regranulating plastics such as HDPE, PP, ABS, PS and PVC for the manufacture of films, recycling of PET as well as upcycling of materials.
Increasing the Efficiency
A ZSK 45 Mc18 and a ZSK 70 Mc18 were on show at the booth. Their new features are reported to increase the efficiency of the process, energy and other resources and simplify handling. For thermal insulation of the process section, they thus have one-part thermal insulation hoods, which can be taken off without removing the heating cartridges.
Plug-in heating cartridges permit individual temperature control in the housing interior. They are individually connected via IP67 plug connections and can be rapidly dismounted for maintenance. Maintenance is also made easier by better access to the screw-shaft coupling.
Vibratory Feeder and Gravimetric Twin-Screw Feeder
The ZSK 70 Mc18 features a Coperion K-Tron type K3-ML-D5-V200 vibratory feeder, the ZS-B easy side-feeders with the K-ML-SFS-BSP-100 Bulk-Solids Pump feeder. The smaller ZSK 45 Mc18 is equipped with a K2-ML-D5-T35 gravimetric twin-screw feeder and the associated side feeder with a K-ML-SFS-KT20 twin-screw feeder for high feeding accuracy at low feeding rates.
