Quick Clamping Technology for High Productivity
At K2013, Hilma-Römheld GmbH, Hilchenbach, Germany, is presenting a number of innovations from mold clamping technology, including a new generation of magnetic quick clamping systems, a force transducer that can be networked with a smartphone or tablet computer, and a new control system for the magnetic platens. The three products all have the aim of making mold exchange faster and easier.
A very high force density at every point on the magnetic platen makes possible a new series of magnetic platens. They allow tools and molds of all sizes and geometries to be clamped with virtually no weight limits. The quick clamping systems can be used for many applications in plastics processing and at temperatures up to 240°C. For vertical and horizontal and injection molding machines, in rubber processing and polyurethane foam covering, the magnetic platens can be installed or retrofitted. Another innovation presented by the company is a force transducer, which display the clamping forces acting on the magnetic platen, and transmits the data to a smartphone or tablet computer. This optionally available optical signal provides an additional check. It is available together with the new magnetic platen control system, which meets the requirements of the maximum safety category IV and performance level “e” of the press standards EN201 and EN289.
