With its Smart Modular Drying SSMD-U, Shini Deutschland GmbH, Magstadt, Germany, offers its customers a modular drying system with automatic dehumidified air flow distribution. The user only needs to enter the material name, feed rate per hour, dehumidified air flow and the dew point. The dehumidified air generator features a honeycomb-structure rotor and several modular drying hoppers.

According to the manufacturer, the system’s monitoring and control units offer the benefit of optimal dehumidified air flow distribution based on the control process employed. Central drying and moisture removal from numerous different materials are achieved by combining various standard parts. The system permits optimal energy savings and prevents over- and under-drying of the material.

The dehumidified air flows out of the dry air generator through a central line and then branches off to the individual drying hoppers. Each branch line to a drying hopper is fitted with an air flow sensor and an air valve. The air flow sensor detects any deviation and notifies the central control unit. In addition, the air flow sensor regulates and distributes the flow of air automatically.

The PLC-based control system provides automatic control of the blower inverter, air valve and air flow management.
