Nucleating and Clarifying Agents for Polypropylene

Milliken

Highly transparent polypropylene can be processed at low temperatures thanks to a clarifying additive (© Milliken)

Additives from Milliken & Company, Ghent, Belgium, are aimed specifically at simplifying and accelerating processing. Millad NX 8000 not only enhances clarity, but also lowers the temperature needed for processing by injection molding. The manufacturer claims that this speeds up the molding process and makes it more economical. It also promises faster manufacturing from the use of nucleating agent Hyperform HPN. Both additives can be incorporated into free-flowing polypropylene.

Milliken also offers additives for polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyethylene (PE) and polyurethane (PU). These are claimed to possess properties that will satisfy future safety standards concerning electrostatic discharges and serve as reactive dyes, antioxidants and microbiocides.
