High-Quality Surface with MuCell
Trexel GmbH of Siegen, Germany, is focusing on a special injection molding process. The thermoplastic foam injection molding, for which line periphery of the T series is utilized, is already being used industry-wide in the branch under the name MuCell. The potential of the process is shown on a running injection molding application on a partner booth at the Fakuma. The challenges of producing a part with high-quality surface, especially when there are jumps in wall thicknesses and complex part areas, are addressed and overcome by Trexel by means of appropriate mold heating.
At Fakuma, a model car with high gloss surfaces is being produced with MuCell process on a Milacron MTS200 injection molding machine to show a result from the "zukunft-spritzguss.de" working party (live application at Milacron in Hall B3, booth 3203). Besides an appropriate component design, approaches to machine solutions can be found for alternating temperature control, mold and cold runner design, hot runners, and surface structuring by laser.
