Laser Surface Velocimeter LSV 1000/2000, Zumbach

Precise Measurement of Velocity and Length

LSV 1000/2000 laser surface velocimeters by Zumbach Electronic AG situated in Orpund, Switzerland, are very helpful for producers when it comes to quality assurance in the production of cables, pipes, wires and steel. According to company information, performance is higher than that of conventional contact measuring techniques, offering absolute robustness as well as minimum effort and cost of maintenance at the same time.

The visible laser facilitates alignment in the measuring field (© Zumbach)

In a fast and reliable way, with lasers precisely aligned, the compact device provides length and velocity values for monitoring and cutting purposes. With measuring accuracy independent of velocity, even the slightest movements can be measured.

The producer claims the all-in-one system can easily be integrated into the production process. The visible lasers facilitate alignment within the measuring field. No recalibration is required. Thanks to the low weight, i. e. 4.3 kg, and to the mobility kit included, the device allows for mobile and fast use. Therefore, the velocimeters can be connected to a laptop, too. The sensors are immediately ready for use, featuring universal electricity supply and a LAN port.

There is a wide variety of applications for the LSV length and velocity sensors. The producer states they are robust enough to provide reliable results, even under difficult conditions. Accordingly, they are able to supply good results on almost any type of surface, e. g. steel, glossy aluminum, oily sheets, wires or cables. The sensors are certified for protection classes IP 66 and IP 67 (according to EN 60529).
