Profile Production Line for Rubber
The rubber profile manufacturing line with the designation LabStar Line from KraussMaffei Berstorff GmbH, Hanover, Germany, has been designed specially for research applications and blend development. The compact line is characterized by short retooling times for small throughputs. Test specimens and seal profiles with a diameter of less than 1 cm2 can be produced here with a throughput of 8 kg/h, The laboratory-scale line is geared to the productive manufacturing of single-component profiles, offering a high degree of process flexibility while at the same time being extremely easy to operate. Thanks to the modular design of the line, it can be quickly adapted for different applications. The basis for the line is a GE 25 x 18D rubber extruder for the continuous forming of the material which is equipped with a moving operating panel for control of the line. The subsequent prevulcanization of the profile takes place in a shock module with short-wave infrared radiators.
During the development of the new vulcanization unit, the company attached great importance to simple operation and high production reliability. The combination of microwave and hot air tunnel is based on the technology of the production lines. Easily opened cover flaps permit simple threading of the product during starting of the line and quick cleaning of the process chamber. The user can operate the line via a control console and touchscreen panel at the vulcanization unit.
