Surface Finishes with Sensor Applications
Connecting Design and Function
Leonhard Kurz Stiftung & Co. KG, Fuerth, Germany, operates in the field of hot stamping and coating technology. It develops and produces applied decorative and functional coatings on carrier films for a wide range of applications. Together with its German subsidiaries Muehlich Hinderer GmbH & Co. KG, Goeppingen, PolyIC GmbH & Co. KG, Fuerth, and Baier GmbH & Co. KG, Rudersberg, Kurz will be displaying new combinations of surface finishes with sensor applications. It will present surfaces with special touch properties, decoration with REACH-compliant real-chromium and all kinds of metal designs. This type of metallized decoration can also be produced in the form of non-conductive vacuum metallized (NCVM) coatings which can be connected to sensor panels in a rapid manufacturing process to generate an integral design surface with dead-front effect. The backlit panel is activated by touch or by touchless gesture control (Fig.). In addition, the company will demonstrate a new method for decorating pronounced 3-D shapes. Besides Kurz will be advising about current developments in the coating of fiber composites. It will demonstrate new approaches for imbuing composites for lightweight construction with high-grade decorative finishes in the future.
