Optical Inspection Systems for Equipment Control
The guiding theme of Industry 4.0 describes the vertical and horizontal linking and information exchange among machines, warehousing systems, operating equipment and the condition of products in companies along the value creation chain. This system transformation can advance only with closely coordinated exchange among machinery manufacturers, electronics companies and information technology (IT). Intravis GmbH, Aachen, Germany, develops optical inspection systems with which IT and production technology can be more closely linked, allowing greater cost and time efficiency as well as higher product quality.
For instance the IntraVisualizer software displays the measurement results from Intravis systems in highly informative diagrams so that lines can be monitored simultaneously online, making comparative studies possible. To reduce the reject rate, the user can specify tolerance ranges. As soon as a measured value reaches a limit, this system generates a message. Furthermore, this software allows the measurement results from different production periods (e. g. shifts or batches) to be visualized in order to track trends in product characteristics.
PreWatcher III is an inspection system that is already in use at preform producers. It has been modified in the course of further development. A 21.5 inch monitor now allows the user to simultaneously view several inspection modules. The hardware controls have now also been integrated into the IntraVision software. This simplifies troubleshooting, and also makes it easier to enter settings such as the belt speeds. Furthermore, switching the illumination between white light and infrared is possible, which creates a better inspection situation, depending on the preform.
