HPF The Mineral Engineers at K 2019
HPF The Mineral Engineers Quarzwerke GmbH, Frechen, Germany, will introduce the kaolin-based additive TEC 110 which has been developed to improve the mechanical properties of elastomers.
A silanized variant of this product also makes it possible to cut down on the additional use of flame retardants. The strength of elastomers is increased by the mineral filler Chinafill which is said to be superior to precipitated silicas, while providing similar property improvements, and in the calcined state has been successfully used for permanently elastic seals. This product, too, is based on the mineral kaolin.
For Thermoplastics and Thermosets
Plastics in electrical components must dissipate heat efficiently and at the same time act as electrical insulators. This property combination is provided by the additive Silatherm which can be used in both thermoplastics and thermosets. Besides increasing thermal conductivity, this additive also improves the strength of the plastic.
To prevent excessive heat build-up on exposure to sunlight, the additive Acrysmart changes the permeability of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) to solar and light rays in accordance with ambient temperature.
