Hot Runner System for Demanding Applications
Precision around the Setpoint
With their Summit series, Mold-Masters Limited in Georgetown, Ontario/Canada, showcased a new hot runner system for demanding applications at the NPE 2015. According to the manufacturer, the stainless steel hot runner system is particularly suited for shear and temperature-sensitive plastics such as PC, POM, and PBT. As opposed to typical nozzles with a heating band, the new nozzles exhibit four times less thermal heat variation around the setpoint. The nozzle’s profile has a positive effect on the temperature profile, and is particularly useful for applications in the medical technology field, where high precision is essential.
The systems of the Summit series can be ordered together with the newly developed servo-controlled needle valve drives, which permit individual position control as well as opening speed and time of every needle. This enables the hot runners to be used also in cleanrooms – primarily by end users who wish to reduce the failure risk, optimize the manufacturing process, and obtain top-quality injection molding results with high repeatability and accuracy, says the manufacturer.
