Evaluation Software Free of Charge with CT Data Import

The meantime, computer tomography has become a standard method in the industry for nondestructive part testing. The use and further processing of these data still present a significant challenge. GOM mbH, Braunschweig, Germany, has developed the GOM Inspect software, which is available free of charge and is intended as an evaluation software for 3D measurement data, including 3D inspections and STL mesh processing and permits independent evaluation of measurement results.

The new version of the software can import volume data from computer tomography images in the native CT formats *vgi or *vgl and perform extensive shape and dimensional analysis. An STL data set is available, which reduces the effort for target-actual comparisons considerably. Single as well as multiple materials can be evaluated, in which case different materials in an object appear as separate surface meshes. GOM Inspect now contains expanded shape and position tolerance inspection, and with the aid of surface defect representation offers a new way to inspect surfaces. The software is available for download free of charge.
