MRS Extruder

Increasing the Outgassing Capacity

MRS extruder with RSFgenius rotary filter (figure: Gneuss)

In addition to an MRS extruder, Gneuss Kunststofftechnik GmbH, Bad Oeynhausen, Germany, is also presenting melt filters. These self-cleaning filtration systems from Gneuss operate fully automatically and ensure a constant pressure and process. The RSFgenius filter series to which the new RSFgenius M belongs is being shown. This filter is designed specifically for highly contaminated materials such as those encountered in recycling. An RSFgenius 75 melt filter with increased filtration capacity achieved through synchronization of the drive and closing piston concept will be exhibited.

The MRS extruder can be used for processing of recycled PET without pre-drying through use of a water ring vacuum system. Thanks to the patented combination of single-screw extruder and multi-screw section, the MRS extruder is especially well-suited for recycling applications. The extruder shown (Fig.) is based on a conventional single-screw extruder with a drum in which eight individual satellite screws are driven by a ring gear. The barrels in the drum are about 30 % open, ensuring that air has access to the melt. According to the manufacturer this design can achieve an outgassing capacity several times that of conventional single-screw extruders.
