New Filter and Revamped MRS Target Cost Efficiency

Gneuss Kunststofftechnik GmbH, Bad Oeynhausen, Germany, has different models of its patented rotary filtration systems. The continuous systems feature cavities arranged in a ring pattern on the filter disk, allowing screens to be changed without interrupting the production process and without pressure fluctuations. The system can be used for many different types of polymer with different viscosities. The new model is intended to combine the properties of several older models in one simple and cost-effective solution.
In extrusion technology, Gneuss is presenting the second generation of its multi-rotation system (MRS). The new drive concept is more robust and is suitable for more challenging recycling applications. Modifications to the MRS drum and the screw design have been made to improve the IV (intrinsic viscosity) retention during recycling of PET, while there continues to be no need to pre-dry the material. The elimination of powerful vacuum systems and pre-drying, according to the manufacturer, makes MRS more economically efficient compared to conventional technologies.
Besides saving energy, Gneuss also claims a simple and robust design, small footprint, ease of operation, low maintenance, flexibility of processing and high melt quality and melt homogeneity.
