Flame retardant Polyamide 66

To fulfill in particular the domestic appliance standard EN 60335-1 Vamp Tech SPA, Busnago, Italy, has developed a flame retardant polyamide 66 (PA 66) without additional fillers and reinforcing agents.

The performance of the PA 66 (Vampamid 66 0023 V0 H GW) in respect of flame application satisfies all of the requirements of this standard. This material is flame retardant even at thin wall sections and passes the glow wire test at 825°C (GWIT) and 960°C (GWFI). Since the newly developed PA66 does not use fillers, reinforcing agents or flame retardants it has an elongation at break of more than 25%. This means that the material is an excellent choice for electrical components where a certain amount of flexibility is necessary, such as hinges.
