New Opening System for the Melt Filter

Fast Screen Change

In the new development from Fimic Sas Di Canaia Antonio & C., Carmignano di Brenta, Italy, the opening system for the melt filter was reengineered completely. To maintain trouble-free operation of the filter, the corresponding laser-perforated screens must be changed regularly and independently of the contamination level of the material. To open the filter housing and thus permit a screen change, several bolts had to be loosened until now. This meant that a screen change required about 30 min. While the melt filter is open, all production must stop. Thanks to a newly developed opening system based on mechanical clamping, the screen change is now simple and possible within 5 min. The filters have a wide field of application from film extrusion to injection molding and according to the manufacturer can be incorporated into almost all types of extruders.
