Extended Elastomer Product Line from Dow
The Dow Chemical Company (Dow), Midland, USA, has expanded its elastomer technology platforms and capabilities, including a range of Silastic silicone and fluorosilicone rubber technologies. For example the Silastic LTC 9400 Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) product line is a low-temperature-cure (LTC) LSR solution that enables short cure times at low temperatures and features processing benefits including improved rheology for fast low-pressure injection. According to the manufacturer, that creates new opportunities for part design by enabling overmolding of low-melting-point thermoplastics, actives and electrical components. These LSRs also increase robustness by reducing sensitivity to temperature gradients.
Further more, Silastic LS-4940 Fluorosilicone Rubber Base and Silastic LS-4960 Fluorosilicone Rubber Base were developed to provide good handling in combination with high-temperature and fluid-resistance capabilities. Suitable for molded parts requiring higher heat stability and/or improved fluid stability, these elastomers are specially designed for turbocharger hose calendering and extrusion.
