Energy-Efficient, Variable Temperature Control

The faster the changeover between heating and cooling phases and the less energy that is lost, the more efficient and energy-saving the production of demanding injection molded and composite parts will be. The vario switching unit from Regloplas AG, St. Gallen, Switzerland, is designed for such dynamic temperature-controlled processes. This versatile, modular unit can be connected to all standard Regloplas temperature control units for applications with water at temperatures of up to 200 °C. Its mold-adjacent feed and return lines ensure shorter heating and cooling phases and reduce energy losses.

Reduction of Energy Consumption

Energy consumption can be further reduced through the optional use of the energyBattery. This acts as a temporary store for hot and cold heat-transfer fluids. At the right time, which is detected automatically by the vario switching unit, the heat-transfer fluid is pushed into the respective temperature control unit at the same temperature level. This avoids the otherwise inevitable mixing of hot and cold heat-transfer fluids.

Rapid Cooling of the Mold

For applications requiring rapid cooling of the mold, a coldWater unit – available in the 160 and 200 models – can be used instead of a temperature control unit, but only in conjunction with the vario switching unit. The coldWater is designed for cooling temperatures of below 40 °C and operating temperatures of the heat-transfer fluid of up to 200 °C. Regloplas claims that the use of the coldWater unit reduces the total cost of ownership of the injection molding machine.
