Digital Material type RGD5160-DM
Have a Seat
Objet Geometries Ltd., situated in Rehovat, Israel, has produced a folding chair on a 3-D printer. The chair has its original size, consists of a composite material similar to ABS, and was produced in one step. The printer (type: Objet Connex Multimaterial) builds the chair in its collapsed state – it is unfolded only after removal from the unit.
The folding chair is 48 cm high, and can withstand loads up to 100 kg; its dimensional stability, temperature resistance, and load-bearing capacity are similar to that of engineering products at ABS level. Using "Digital Material" (type: RGD5160-DM), designers can e.g. simulate the functions of movable parts made from engineering plastics. Objet’s Digital Materials consist of two components combined in a way that provides for the mechanical properties desired.
