Straight Adapted to the Injection Molding Process
Varioplast Konrad Däbritz GmbH of Ötisheim, Germany, methodically extends its portfolio of processing and refining processes and combines technological production solutions with automation know-how. 2-component injection molding, painting, PVD coatings, lasering, printing, hot embossing, ultrasonic welding, sealing foams, and thermoforming are part of the company's product folio.
Recently, a fifth generation line with Instantcoat technology was put in operation. This fully automated linking of injection molding and painting is available for up to 5500 kN clamping force. The process and layer thickness constancy, the surface quality and economic efficiency, which are according to the manufacturers specifications with conventional processes hardly achievable, can be transferred to complex molded parts such as head-up displays for automotive customers. Almost all 1- and 2-component glossy and water-based matt lacquers can now be processed.
Direct linking of injection molding and metalizing by PVD coating has found additional series applications. In addition to dials, scaling rings and frames are being metalized as well as translucent lighting elements. Meanwhile, aluminum, chrome, silver, and stainless steel have been applied as coating materials.
6-axis robot-guided seal foaming was recently introduced at Varioplast. A heat-hardening PU foam is being used for sealing plastic glasses in display instruments against dust and for bonding printed viewing windows vapor-tight and three-dimensionally safe in medical devices.
The variothermal Turbotherm process enables partial heating of critical mold zones at low heating times. This can simply and effectively eliminate visible flow lines. In the field of variothermal process management during plastics injection molding, a patented combination of turbulent air current, highly effective heating nozzles, air acceleration by the Venturi principle, and a heat recovery bell results in high efficiency.
