By illuminating the surface being measured, a spectrophotometer measures the remission values over the entire spectrum of visible light so that the exact chromaticity coordinates of a color can be defined and the color differences between two measured points can be calculated. ColorLite GmbH, Katlenburg-Lindau, Germany, offers a new generation of portable spectrophotometers.
The spectrophotometer from the Rugged 2 series is manufactured specifically for use under challenging ambient conditions, especially high or low temperatures, and is resistant to vibrations, impact and humidity. An additional compact color meter from the XS1 series, which is relatively light with a weight of 270 g, is also being shown. It offers a 45°/0° geometry and can be equipped with a 60° gloss meter.
To permit rapid assignment of the measurement results, simple color management as well as transfer of the measured values to the ColorDaTra evaluation software in real time, both systems contain integrated data matrix barcode cameras and can send data via WLAN and Bluetooth. With an aluminum housing and an operator interface of hardened glass, both units are largely immune to environmental factors. Both systems have high spectral resolutions and scan in steps of 3.5 nm with a measurement time of 0.5 s, providing precise, reproducible measurement results quickly. The OLED color displays render colors brightly and in this way make it easy to use the units under poor illumination conditions.
