Cobra e-Vario series
With the introduction of their Cobra e-Vario series, Adept Technology GmbH in Dortmund, Germany, aims to provide their customers with automation solutions for their processes, also in areas in which robots have previously been uneconomical. According to Adept, the robots are distinguished by simple programming and precise repeatability. After just one day of training, users were able to operate the robots, which are particularly suited for processes in the area of packaging, palletizing, and assembly, as well as pick & place.
With a working radius of 600 and 800 mm respectively, and a load handling capacity of 3 kg, the two versions of the new series offer all the product features that are already known from the iCobra range. The drive amplifiers are integrated in the robot base. Each robot arm has its own microcontroller, which is also an integral part of the system’s base, enabling the unit to operate independently, without the need for an external controller. This brain-on-board technology simplifies commissioning, and makes the robots considerably more economical. In addition to the standard version with absolute displacement measurement systems, the robots are equipped with Adept ACE, the new development platform for the company’s entire range of robots and controls.
