Small Robots - Fast, Precise and Clean

At Home in the Cleanroom

The production of highly sensitive parts and components imposes high standards on indoor climate, cleanliness and functionality in the manufacturing process. Even robots intended for use in the pharmaceutical industry and medical technology applications must be designed so that the number of particles entrained into the room or generated there is reduced to a minimum. Kuka Roboter GmbH, Augsburg, Germany, has specifically optimized its KR Agilus small robot series for use in cleanroom conditions.

With internal lines and power supply lines, the KR Agilus CR is ideal for production in an industrial cleanroom. The specially treated surface has a high resistance to cleaning agents and releases virtually no particles to the cleanroom. Optimized joints and seals prevent abrasion from becoming a problem. In addition, the KR Agilus CR features the proven components of six-axis small robots: speed, excellent maneuverability in tight spaces, short cycle times and high precision.

Kuka has been working closely with the Fraunhofer Institute since 2002. There, the robots are tested and then certified to air-cleanliness standards according to ISO 14644-1. The KR6 R900 sixx CR is a Class 2 cleanroom robot.
